More details on our best business gas credit cards

What is the best business gas card?

Gas expenses can add up quickly, especially if your business requires a lot of driving and traveling. For some businesses, getting a business gas card can be a great way to earn cash-back or reward points on a business expense. The cards above were chosen for their high earnings at gas stations, but only you can decide the best card for your business spending needs.

A card like the Capital One Spark Cash Plus may be a great fit for a business that has extensive purchases of both gas and other items throughout the year, thanks to its unlimited 2% cash-back rate. This card is also ideal if you don’t want to worry about travel rewards and instead are looking for cash back to reinvest in your operations.

However, a smaller business with lower spending may find the Blue Business Plus a better fit with its no annual fee, and 2 points per dollar earning rate on the first $50,000 in purchases (then 1 point thereafter). These rewards can also help unlock free travel.

Do I need a business credit card for gas?

This depends on you. Is gas a primary expense for your business? If not, you can skip getting a business card specifically for gas and continue with your existing business credit card portfolio. If the bulk of your business expenses is gas, getting a business credit card that earns high rates at the gas station is definitely a great idea.

Note that many of the above cards also allow you to add authorized user cards for no additional fee. This can be especially valuable for businesses with employees who frequently travel — like sales representatives visiting clients in a large territory or delivery drivers who take your goods to customers. Just be aware that you’re responsible for any purchases on these cards as the primary cardholder.
